Submit a Song

As LDS Composers, we have been richly blessed with a wonderful musical heritage that includes traditional LDS hymns and Christian hymns. Part of that heritage includes creating new worship music. These new works, when done appropriately, can be a rewarding and spiritual experience for both the performer and listener.

I invite you to share your new arrangements and compositions by submitting them to be web-published on TimothyMax.org. As a composer, I believe that there are times that it is appropriate to freely give of what we have created; There are also times to withhold our works and save them for another special occasion. I invite you, after careful consideration, to share your music with others if you feel it is appropriate.

To ensure lawful and appropriate music sharing, please carefully follow the six-step submission process outlined below for your music to be considered:

Review and adhere to the guidelines.
Download, fill-out, and upload the Music Release Form.
Complete the Song Information form.
Upload your score of your piece.
Upload a Recording of your piece.
Watch for your posting to go live. Once all forms are received, your music will be posted.

1. Guidelines

Music Guidelines (Hint: to zoom in/out use control +/-)

Genres: At this time, TimothyMax.org is accepting submissions for LDS and christian-themed music including: Hymn arrangements, sacred compositions, primary songs, holiday arrangements and compositions, and so forth. Music should be appropriate for use in church meetings, conferences, and activities. For questions about appropriate submissions, please contact me.
Royalty Free: All posted music will be downloadable free of charge. You will not receive payment for your submission after publication. However, you may choose to have it removed from the website at any time.
Public Domain: All music should be in the public domain and/or free of copyright infringement. Click here for guidelines on public domain use.
Copyright: Original works may be copyrighted prior to submitting, however you must grant permission for these works to be web-published. You, as the composer, retain all rights to your music. You should protect your music by copyrighting it prior to submitting and/or include the copyright symbol © on your scores. See guidelines about copyrighting your work for more information. It is your responsibility to ensure that all legalities have been resolved prior to submitting the piece.
File Formats: Submit only .pdf or Finale (.mus) files for consideration. All other formats can not be accepted.
Recordings: A simple recording must accompany all submissions. This recording will be posted on the website with the sheet music. Sheet music without accompanying recordings will not be posted.
Notation Standards: Music should be computer notated with clear and professional markings, readable fonts, and well prepared page turns. Click here to view a set of guidelines for music preparations, as set forth by the Major Orchestra Librarian's Association.

Proofread: All music and recordings will be reviewed prior to posting on Timothy Max's website. However, these submissions will NOT be edited. Please carefully proofread your music before submitting.

Recording Guidelines

Quality: Recordings will be posted alongside your score. Thus, please make sure they are as professional as possible. Rough recordings will still be accepted but please submit the best possible recording available.
Format: Submit music recordings in .mp3 format only.
Size: Files should not exceed 20 MB to be successfully uploaded.

Other Information - Please be advised

Processing: Please allow up to three weeks to process and post submissions.
Multiple Authors: If you have collaborated with another musician or lyricist on your submitted piece, a Music Release Form (See below) must be received from all parties before your song can be published online.
Library Number: All music will be assigned a library number in the Timothy Max library and kept on file, even after you choose to have it removed from the website. Please keep this file number and reference it in communication with TimothyMax.org
Download Statistics: Unfortunately a download counter is not available at this time.
Linking to Music: Unfortunately, at this time you cannot to link your submitted music from an outside website. For instance, you may wish to post a link from Facebook to your submitted music. Unfortunately this option is currently unavailable. All web traffic must first be routed through the home page of TimothyMax.org.
Agreement: Any music that does not conform to the above-stated guidelines may be removed from the website at anytime.

4. Upload Your Musical Score

After creating your file and using the notation guidelines listed above, upload your file and submit.

Files must be in .pdf or .mus format and may not exceed 20 MB.

Files may take a few minutes to upload depending on the size of the file and your internet connection speed. A confirmation will appear after your file is completely loaded.

5. Upload a Recording

Recordings are required for each song submitted. Please remember to give proper acknowledgement to any performing artist, choir, accompanist or conductor in the recording, and make sure that you own the recording and have rights to publish it.

Please submit recordings in .MP3 format only. Computerized renderings, piano reductions, or other simplified recordings of songs are permissible.

Max file size: 20 MB

Note: Uploading may take several minutes depending on the size of the file and your internet connection speed. A confirmation will appear after your file is completely loaded.

6. Watch for your posting to go live.

Your song will be posted under the "Submissions" page of TimothyMax.org. Please allow up to three weeks for processing (although I try to get them up within a day or two.) Post links to TimothyMax.org on facebook, or twitter or pinterest, and tell friends where they can go to download your music!
